It's Gonna Be Okay
November, 1, 2020
When we question if God is still in control and still good, Psalm 46 says that even if the earth gives way and the mountains fall into the sea, that He is our refuge and our strength, a present help in trouble. When your world feels like it is completely upside down, remember, it is going to be ok.
With the election coming up on Tuesday, there is no doubt that most of us are anxious about the outcome, no matter which side we are on. The anxiety is compounded by the fact that we are in the middle of a pandemic with the number of cases and deaths rising each day. Since anxiety is caused by fear, I began looking through quotes about fear. Believe me, there are many. The quotes that really caught my attention were two quotes by Emmet Fox:
“To be afraid is to have more faith in evil than in God.”
“Whenever you are afraid of something, you are worshipping it. Whatever you fear, you bow down to and give it power.”
For me, these were very powerful quotes and thus, gave me motivation to get rid of my fear. Last week, I mentioned repeating the word “NOW” as a way to cope with the fears I was experiencing. This still helps me today. Another way I deal with my fear is to turn to music; music that assures me that everything will be okay.
Last week when I was out and about a little more than my usual routine during this time of COVID 19, I “coincidentally” heard a new song several times on my favorite radio station, K-Love. After I heard it each time, whoever was hosting that day would comment on how powerful and appropriate the song was for these trying times. Below are a few verses from the song as a teaser, so that you may be motivated to listen to the actual song. Therefore, I have included the link below so you may listen to it. Please do, because you won’t want to miss this opportunity to find the message of HOPE that we so desperately need right now.
Into the Sea (It’s Gonna Be Okay) by Tasha Layton
[Verse 1] My heart is breaking In a way I never thought it could My mind is racing With the question, "are you still good?" [Pre-Chorus] Can you make something From the wreckage? Would you take this heart And make it whole again? [Chorus] Though the mountains may be moved into the sea Though the ground beneath might crumble and give way I can hear my Father singing over me "It's gonna be ok, it's gonna be ok"
With peace and love,
