CORE VALUES

Everything that we do is centered on Jesus Christ, who is our Lord and Savior and Head of the church. We honor diversity, believe in shared leadership, and promote an organic unity between different Christian denominations. We model our mission on the ministry of Christ spreading good will and advocating for social justice in our community and world.

"For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ.... If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it." — 1 Corinthians 12:12, 12:26

WE LOVE OUR CHURCH

When you enter our doors you will find a sanctuary where Jesus is treasured, people are loved, and compassion is extended. We welcome people from all church backgrounds or none at all, including friends from all racial and ethnic backgrounds, as well as members of the LGBTQIA and 12 Step communities. In our congregation we respect diversity, understanding that everyone arrives at different points at different times in their spiritual journey. We value what each person brings to the table knowing that every person is a beloved child of God.

WE BELIEVE IN SHARED LEADERSHIP

In a Presbyterian Church there is no authoritarian leadership. We believe everyone has gifts to be honored. The basis of the Reformed tradition is that the spiritual leaders are to be elected by the people of God. Elders are elected for three-year terms and serve on a ruling body called the Session. Deacons also serve for three-year terms and work to help those in need.

WE VALUE DIVERSITY

We celebrate, affirm, and welcome the rich diversity of all of God's people. Every background, gender, race, and belief is welcome at PWPC. We are part of  Presbyterian Church USA and are listed on gaychurch.org as a welcoming and affirming congregation.

WE BRING LIGHT TO DARKNESS

Our mission is the ministry of Christ. Just as Christ was called "to proclaim good news to the poor... proclaim freedom for the prisoners and... to set the oppressed free," (Luke 4:18) so are we. Through our support of 12-step programs, community involvement and social activism, our goal is to bring hope and light to everyone.
